The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Donald Ojogo, has escaped unhurt after a road accident involving his convoy along the Ore–Ondo highway in Ondo State.

The accident reportedly occurred on Saturday when a commercial bus allegedly attempted to overtake dangerously before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

The impact caused panic among motorists and other road users along the busy highway, with some members of the lawmaker’s entourage reportedly sustaining injuries.

Ojogo, who recently secured another term in the National Assembly, was reportedly travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political engagement when the crash occurred.

Although the lawmaker escaped the accident unhurt, some members of his entourage were injured and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Reacting to the incident, Ojogo expressed gratitude to God for protecting him and members of his team, saying the crash could have resulted in a tragedy.

“God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident,” the lawmaker said.

Ojogo attributed the accident to the alleged reckless driving of the commercial bus driver, accusing the driver of attempting a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre and failing to exercise patience on the highway.

He urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid reckless driving, particularly on busy highways, to prevent avoidable accidents.

As of the time of filing this report, those injured in the crash were receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
