The Acting Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, Dr. Sirajo Mohammad Gulubba, has announced that the college has received a mandate from the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to offer degree programs in the state.

Dr. Gulubba made this announcement on Saturday in Gusau during the matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted first cohort of degree and NCE students at the college.

He explained that while the college has traditionally been female-only, its status is evolving with the introduction of degree programs that now welcome both male and female students.

“This year the College received a mandate from the National Commission for Colleges of Education to start its degree programme. With such mandate, we admitted the first set of students for the degree programme.

The Provost advised students to do their best to justify the opportunity given to them and achieve excellent performance in all the courses of their choice.

“This is key to your ability to attain competence in your field of study, a condition to contribute to the Nigerian economy. The labour market is looking not only for beautiful certificates but is more focused on skills for problem-solving,” he mentioned.

“I’m using this opportunity to extend congratulations and goodwill messages to matriculating students of the College Governing Council, under the able leadership of Professor Muhammad Bashir Nuhu.

The College Registrar, Mohammed Adamu Bungudu, further explained that 315 students were admitted to undergo National Certificate in Education (NCE), while the first set of 92 students were also admitted for degree programme in the college.
