Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, Friday, commissioned over 20 new projects executed by the chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Yakubu Lawi Sumi.
The governor, was represented by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan El-Yakub who is also the overseeing Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
On his part, Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Yakubu Lawi Sumi expressed his appreciation to the state governor for supporting him from the beginning of the projects to the completion level.
The council boss said that the legacy projects were investments in efficiency and better service delivery not only to the incoming administration but for the future progress of the good people of all local government and Bauchi State.
“This occasion represents another important milestone in our collective commitment to the growth and development of Bogoro Local Government. Added that the projects are a testament to our dedication to delivering meaningful dividends of democracy and improving the lives of our people,” he said.
Renovation of the Local Government Chairman’s house, purchase of a guest house and the renovation of the property, construction of a stall at Monday Cattle Market at Kalambu, Construction of Livestock Markets in Gobbiya and Kalambu, Reinforcement of Bazanshi Bridge.
Other projects include, Repair of over 150 boreholes, construction of Ghinzim mosque, renovation of Boi Mosque, construction of three village heads’ houses, construction of churches, construction of BAROTA office, fifteen (15) new motorcycles were purchased for the councilors, three (3) new motorcycles were purchased for Police, DSS and Civil Defence to improve patrol for security checks.
While other achievements in various areas by his administration include sponsorship of twenty (20) students in Bill and Melinda Gate College of Health Sciences and Technology Ningi, twenty (20) students in School of Oil and Gas Alkaleri, twenty (20) students in College of Education Technical Dass, ten (10) students in Alico Dangote College of Nursing, Twenty (20) Candidates in Labour and Productivity Yelwa Bauchi.
He further said that the absence of the Chairman in the local government headquarters has been a major challenge over the years due to the dilapidated nature of the Chairman’s house.
The council boss said that the motivation for the Construction is for the generation of revenue in the Local Government “The reinforcement of the bridge of Bazanshi became necessary when we discovered that the bridge was collapsing, which would have created unnecessary hardship to the Communities”
“During our tenure, it came to our notice that over one hundred and twenty-seven boreholes were not functional which in turn created hardship for the Communities. This were all repaired to provide portable drinking water. Construction of Local culverts locally known as “Malale” that allow movement of people and goods to several villages among which are Molmol, Kwara, Gambar, Gyara, Bogoro.
The Bogoro Local Government Chairman, Yakubu Lawi Sumi, expressed his appreciation to the State governor, senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for giving him the opportunity to serve as chairman.
