The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has listed various traffic offences and the corresponding fines and penalties for motorists in the state.
According to the list published on the agency’s official website, motorists who violate traffic regulations may face fines, vehicle impoundment, towing charges and other sanctions, depending on the nature of the offence.
The penalties are contained in LASTMA’s traffic regulations and cover offences ranging from illegal parking and traffic light violations to dangerous driving, documentation offences and violations involving commercial vehicles.
Some of the fines also increase for repeat offenders, while certain violations may attract additional enforcement measures.

Disobeying traffic control personnel — N20,000
Disobeying traffic lights — N10,000
Illegal U-turn — N20,000

Additional penalties
According to LASTMA, some traffic violations may attract additional enforcement measures beyond the stated fines.
Depending on the nature of the offence, motorists may face vehicle impoundment, towing charges, prosecution or other sanctions.
The agency advised motorists to obey traffic regulations and comply with lawful instructions from traffic management officials to avoid penalties.
