A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Saturday night, has thrown residents of the community into shock.
Although the circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing and the motive behind the incident remain unclear, sources said Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.
A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with journalists on Sunday.

Amaraizu said residents were shocked by the development, adding that the couple had been married for barely eight months.
He disclosed that the couple got married in December 2025, before the tragic incident occurred on Saturday night.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, said, “I will get back to you.”
However, an official response from the police was still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.
The latest incident comes months after the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a woman in Umuahia, the state capital, over the alleged killing of her husband, an Immigration officer.
The incident, which occurred in February 2026, was reportedly linked to an allegation of infidelity.
The then Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over a murder case.
The circumstances surrounding the latest incident in Umuokereke Ngwa remain under investigation, while further details from the police are expected.
