The National Council of the Zang Secondary Commercial Old Students’ Association (ZASCOSA) has commended the Plateau State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Barrister Peter Nyam Gai, for his efforts in improving revenue generation and streamline land administration in the state.

The commendation was made when the newly inaugurated ZASCOSA National Executive paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner in his office in Jos.

The Association’s National President, Dung Nehemiah Rwang, applauded the Commissioner for initiatives aimed at blocking revenue leakages, accelerating land-title processing and improving staff welfare.

Rwang said the association had followed developments in the ministry with keen interest, noting that efficient land administration was critical to the development of the state.

“We appreciate the efforts being made to improve revenue generation, block leakages and make land administration more efficient,” he said.

He also urged the state government to consider the adoption of rights of way (R-O-W) as part of measures to facilitate the implementation of the Greater Jos Master Plan.

The ZASCOSA president further called for the mandatory submission of Site Development Plans (SDPs) whenever government acquires land for overriding public interest.

According to him, such a measure would help ensure that acquired land is properly utilised and prevent unnecessary acquisition beyond actual requirements.

Responding, Commissioner Gai acknowledged the contributions of the late D.B. Zang to the establishment of Zang Secondary Commercial School, Bukuru.

He noted that the institution, established in 1966, had produced generations of graduates who had contributed significantly to the development of society and the diaspora.

“Zang Secondary Commercial School has produced generations of graduates who have contributed immensely to the development of our society,” he said.

Gai assured the ZASCOSA delegation of his cooperation and support, while congratulating the newly inaugurated national executive and wishing it a successful tenure.
