…promises balanced development under AMBO

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, has criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke over the condition of roads and other infrastructure across the state.

Oyetola made the remark on Wednesday in Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Government Area, while addressing APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters during an interactive meeting ahead of Saturday’s August 15 governorship election.

The former governor, according to a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Dr Bolaji Akinola, accused the Adeleke administration of failing to adequately address infrastructure challenges in several parts of the state, alleging that government projects and development initiatives had been concentrated disproportionately in Ede, the governor’s hometown.

Oyetola expressed concern about the condition of roads across Osun, stressing that residents should have equitable access to government infrastructure and essential services irrespective of their communities.

He said the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, would ensure prudent management of the state’s resources and promote balanced development if elected.

According to him, an Oyebamiji administration would prioritise road construction and rehabilitation, education and primary healthcare, alongside other essential services.

Oyetola said the APC candidate had the capacity to provide what he described as purposeful leadership and ensure that development was spread across the various parts of the state.

The APC leader also accused supporters of the Accord Party of attacking APC members and subsequently presenting themselves as victims, without providing specific details of the incidents referenced.

He urged APC members to remain united and intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of Saturday’s election, while calling on supporters to participate actively in the electoral process.

Oyetola also cautioned party members to remain vigilant against alleged vote manipulation and other electoral malpractices, urging them to protect their votes through lawful means.

The minister acknowledged the support and endorsements reportedly received by Oyebamiji from former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun and other political leaders in Odo-Otin Local Government Area.

He expressed confidence that Oyebamiji would emerge victorious at the poll, attributing the APC candidate’s prospects to what he described as growing dissatisfaction among residents with the performance of the incumbent administration.

Oyetola therefore urged APC members to convert their support for the party into actual votes on election day, stressing that voter turnout would be crucial to the party’s performance.

The meeting attracted APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across Odo-Otin Local Government Area, with Oyetola and members of his entourage welcomed by a large crowd upon their arrival in Inisa.
