The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol in Mushin.

The suspect, identified as Segun Alani, was arrested by operatives of the Command following credible intelligence on cult-related activities around Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, operatives deployed a surveillance team to the area after receiving the information.

The operation led to the arrest of Alani, while a search of the bag in his possession uncovered a locally made single-barrel pistol concealed inside it.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is said to be providing useful information to investigators as the Command intensifies efforts to uncover other members of the suspected cult network.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation.

Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to disrupting cult-related activities and recovering illegal firearms across the state, warning cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full weight of the law.

The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Command to facilitate rapid intervention.

The arrest and recovery come amid sustained police efforts to curb cultism, armed violence and the circulation of illegal firearms across Lagos State.
