All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s legal action seeking to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the 2027 presidential race.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging that Tinubu submitted a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The certificate reportedly bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which differs from the President’s official name, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Reacting via a Facebook post, Igbokwe dismissed Atiku’s move as “childish,” accusing the former vice president of corruption.
He wrote:“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is asking PBAT to produce his NYSC Certificate. Oro pe si je. The corrupt Custom man is not done yet. This is becoming childish. Atiku Abubakar knows that Nigerians cannot trust him with the Treasury of Nigeria.”
The case has sparked fresh debate over candidate eligibility and the role of documentation in Nigeria’s electoral process.
