SOME All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains have commended the large turnout of voters for the ongoing Osun governorship election.

The chieftains, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilesa, Ibokun and Ilase-Ijesa, described the voter turnout as impressive.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Babatunde Ayeni, commended the peaceful atmosphere in which the election was taking place as well as the large turnout of voters.

Ayeni, who spoke after casting his vote at Ward 10, Unit 13 in Ilesa West Local Government Area, also commended the Federal Government for providing an enabling environment for voters to exercise their franchise.

The former lawmaker, however, denied allegations of vote-buying, saying that APC was popular and therefore had no reason to buy votes.

He expressed optimism that the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious.

Similarly, Sen. Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, commended the large turnout of voters and urged more eligible voters to come out and cast their ballots.

Fadahunsi spoke after casting his vote at Unit 1, Ward 4, Ilase-Ijesa, in Obokun Local Government Area of the state.

He expressed satisfaction with the turnout at his polling unit, calling on more voters to come out and participate in the exercise.

Also speaking, a former member of the state House of Assembly, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said after casting his vote that the atmosphere was peaceful, with a large turnout of voters.(NAN)
