Voting was disrupted at the polling unit of Najeem Salam, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday after suspected thugs invaded the centre and destroyed election materials.
Salam was whisked away from the scene for safety following the incident at Unit 13, Ward 4, where the candidate had gone to vote.
The disruption reportedly followed a confrontation involving some individuals at the polling unit before suspected thugs invaded the centre.
The situation escalated as the suspected thugs destroyed materials deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the election.
The incident sent voters fleeing from the polling unit for safety, bringing voting activities at the centre to a halt.
