Political parties will conduct primaries for four newly restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi States between August 21 and 25, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission has said.

This follows a court judgement directing the restoration of the previously suppressed state House of Assembly constituencies.

The constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II in Delta State, and Yagba West II in Kogi State.

The National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the commission, the scheduled primaries for the new constituency will coincide with the planned party primaries for bye-elections to fill vacancies in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies of Bauchi State; Udu State Constituency of Delta State; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency of Kano State.

INEC added that all other timelines and activities contained in the revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election would apply to the restored constituencies.

It urged political parties to submit notices of their various primaries to the Commission ahead of the scheduled dates.
