…Pledges Unity, Development

The newly inaugurated Southern Kaduna All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum has declared its full support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections, while pledging to harness the experience and wisdom of senior citizens to strengthen party unity, promote good governance and drive sustainable development across the region.

The Forum, which was formally inaugurated in Kafanchan, said its establishment was borne out of a shared conviction that the experience, networks and goodwill of elders must be harnessed in the service of party unity, democratic stability and development.

In a press statement signed by its Co-ordinator, Hon. Micah John Avong; Secretary, Dr Ishaya Habu Sarki; Patron, Engr. Dr Yusuf Iliya Mairiga; and Trustee, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Maikano (former Aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari), the Forum reaffirmed its commitment to APC and its ideals of progressive governance, inclusion, equity and development.

The elders acknowledged that Southern Kaduna experienced significant political and developmental setbacks under the past administration, with many people feeling marginalised and distant from governance.

However, they expressed gratitude for what they described as a renewed sense of inclusion under Governor Uba Sani, citing interventions in education, road infrastructure, and greater representation of Southern Kaduna indigenes in federal and state appointments.

The Forum specifically commended the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia; the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan; military and security infrastructure including a Military Command Centre at Samaru Kataf and a Command Secondary School in Zangon Kataf; and the UBEC Junior Vocational Secondary School at Jagindi.

The elders also expressed appreciation for the recent nomination of Comrade Jerry Adams as Deputy Governorship Candidate, describing it as a significant gesture of inclusion and recognition of the capacity of Southern Kaduna people.

As part of its mandate, the Forum said it would provide strategic counsel to party leadership, promote unity and reconciliation among APC members, mentor younger political leaders, mobilise support for people-oriented programmes, strengthen grassroots engagement, and advocate for the interests of Southern Kaduna within the broader state and national political framework.

The Forum called on all APC leaders, elders, women, youth and party faithful across Southern Kaduna to embrace reconciliation and collective responsibility, stressing that political differences must never overshadow common interests.

“Southern Kaduna deserves a stronger voice. The APC deserves a united and committed family. Our people deserve responsible and people-oriented governance,” the statement read.

The Forum pledged to mobilise responsibly and peacefully ahead of the 2027 elections, engaging the people with a message of hope, inclusion, continuity and development.

Long live Southern Kaduna. Long live the All Progressives Congress. Long live Kaduna State. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Recalled that a Christian body announced that no Christian should vote APC in 2027 following the controversial statement made by Sheikh Yahaya Jingir calling Nigeria Christians infidel and that Nigeria belong to.muslims.
