‘We want to win everything’: Ødegaard warns Arsenal rivals

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has warned the club’s Premier League rivals that the champions are targeting more trophies after opening their season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Ødegaard delivered a man-of-the-match performance in Cardiff, scoring Arsenal’s third goal as Mikel Arteta’s side produced a dominant display against the FA Cup holders.

Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring after just 24 seconds before Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s advantage before half-time.

‘We want to win everything’

The victory provided an early indication that Arsenal remain hungry after securing their first Premier League title since 2004 last season.

Ødegaard, who lifted the league trophy after Arsenal finished seven points ahead of City, believes the performance demonstrated that the champions are determined to maintain their standards.

“We played some brilliant football. Great performance and a great way to start the season,” Ødegaard said.

“We showed our level today. We showed we’re ready. We’re serious and we want to do it again. We want to attack it. We want to do it again.

“When you get a taste of how nice it is, you want to do it again. We want to win everything.”

Arsenal set sights on more trophies

The Community Shield triumph gives Arsenal their second major trophy in four months and provides further momentum ahead of their Premier League title defence.

The Gunners have been installed as favourites to retain the title and will begin their campaign at home against newly promoted Coventry on August 21.

With Arsenal now targeting domestic and European honours, the Norway international believes the champions have the mentality required to compete on every front.
