The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has won all 20 chairmanship seats contested in the Bauchi State local government elections held on Monday.
The results were announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) on Monday night after the completion of voting, counting, collation and verification across the state.
The chairperson of BASIEC, Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar, declared all 20 APM candidates winners of the chairmanship elections in their respective local government areas.
She said the declaration followed the successful completion of all electoral processes and verification of the results.
“Following the conclusion of voting, counting, collation and verification, I, Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar (Gimbiyar Dass), Chairperson of BASIEC, hereby declared that all 20 APM candidates emerged victorious as Chairmen of the respective Local Government Areas,” she said.
In Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bappah Aliyu Mohammed emerged victorious with 107,482 votes, while Umar Mohammed Aliyu won Bauchi LGA with 125,170 votes.
Zakka Luka Magaji secured victory in Bogoro LGA with 25,282 votes, while Iliya Isah won Dambam with 19,730 votes.
Ya’u Samaila Sade emerged winner in Darazo with 67,276 votes, while Mohammed Abubakar Jibo won Dass with 35,264 votes.
Other chairmanship winners
Other winners declared by BASIEC included Ali Babayo, who secured Gamawa LGA with 54,423 votes, and Mohammed Idris M, who won Ganjuwa with 24,150 votes.
Mustapha Alhaji Musa emerged victorious in Giade with 33,864 votes, while Dankawuwa Ya’u won Itas/Gadau with 24,989 votes.
In Jama’are, Inuwa Abdullahi secured victory with 36,766 votes.
Yusuf Babayo Zaki won Katagum with 65,626 votes, while Garba Musa emerged victorious in Kirfi with 24,787 votes.
Salisu Hussaini won Misau with 34,378 votes, while Yahuza Adamu Haruna secured Ningi with 29,387 votes.
In Shira LGA, former majority leader of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Saleh Hodi Jibir, polled 37,135 votes to emerge winner.
Sama’ila Wakili Lere won Tafawa Balewa with 46,625 votes, while Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo secured victory in Toro with 109,999 votes.
Habibu Idris Usman won Warji with 43,066 votes, while Mas’ud Aliyu emerged winner in Zaki with 19,984 votes.
APM wins 319 councillorship seats
The APM also recorded a dominant performance in the councillorship elections, winning 319 of the 323 ward seats contested across Bauchi State.
BASIEC said the remaining four seats were shared among four political parties.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) won Dandango Ward in Bauchi LGA, while the National Rescue Movement (NRM) secured Darazo South Ward in Darazo LGA.
The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won Wandi Ward in Dass LGA, while the Young Progressive Party (YPP) secured Zirami Ward in Giade LGA.
BASIEC confirms election results
The electoral commission said the successful candidates had been duly confirmed as elected after satisfying the applicable legal requirements and securing the highest valid votes in their respective constituencies.
The BASIEC chairperson maintained that the elections were conducted independently and in accordance with the law.
She also commended Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, for his support to the commission during the conduct of the local government elections.
Commission congratulates successful candidates
Abubakar congratulated the people of Bauchi State and all candidates who emerged victorious in the elections.
With the declaration, the APM has secured all 20 chairmanship positions in Bauchi State and 319 of the 323 councillorship seats contested in the local government elections.
