…VP, Saudi Amb. to Nigeria’ll attend

An Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a faith-based civil society organisation, will hold the 10th edition of its annual Hajj Lecture on Wednesday, August 20, 2026, at the National Mosque Auditorium, Abuja.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammad, IHR said this year’s lecture is themed “Service to the Pilgrims,” with the topic: “Exploring Business Opportunities within the Hajj and Umrah Ecosystem.”

The event, scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., will also feature the presentation of awards to outstanding Hajj administrators and individuals who distinguished themselves in the service of Nigerian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj.

State governors who provided support for the 2026 Hajj operations will also be recognised for their contributions, according to the statement made available Monday in Kaduna.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected as Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mahmoud Mariya Bunkure, will serve as Chief Host. The Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef bin Mohammed Albalawi, will attend as Guest of Honour.

The Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, will chair the event.

The keynote lecture will be delivered by Aliyu Buhari Ali, Managing Director of Quantum Microfinance Bank Ltd. Ali previously served as Group Head, SMEs and Financial Inclusion at Jaiz Bank, and as Government Affairs Manager at Sterling Financial Holdings Company.

IHR said the lecture is part of its mandate to report on and promote awareness within the Hajj and Umrah industry in Nigeria.
