Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday paid a congratulatory visit to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Osun Government House following his victory in the state governorship election.

Obasanjo’s visit followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Adeleke as the winner of Saturday’s keenly contested governorship election.

The former president visited the governor at the Osun Government House as Adeleke continued to receive congratulatory messages from political leaders and other prominent Nigerians.

Obasanjo dances with Adeleke

A video currently making the rounds on social media showed Obasanjo dancing with Adeleke during the visit as they celebrated the governor’s victory.

The former president’s appearance at the Government House added to the celebrations following Adeleke’s successful bid to secure another term in office.

Adeleke receives congratulatory messages

Blueprint.ng reports that President Bola Tinubu, state governors and other political leaders have been extending congratulatory messages to Adeleke following his victory.

The governor has also extended an olive branch to all his opponents, calling for reconciliation and cooperation after the election.

He said political differences should be put aside and that all stakeholders should contribute ideas towards the development of Osun State.

APC reviews election results

While Adeleke has begun preparations for his second term, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it was still reviewing the results of the governorship election.

The party said it might take legal steps to challenge the outcome after examining the results.

The position means that although Adeleke has been declared the winner and is receiving congratulatory messages, the APC has not ruled out pursuing legal avenues over the election outcome.
