Huawei appears to be preparing a new smartwatch focused on blood pressure monitoring, with certification records pointing to the possible launch of a successor to its Watch D2.
The device, called the Huawei Watch D3, has been spotted in Indonesia’s SDPPI certification database.
The listing identifies two variants carrying the model numbers RIV-B10 and RIV-B11, although the certification does not reveal what distinguishes the two models.
The certification comes ahead of Huawei’s planned global product launch event in Munich on September 2, where the company is expected to introduce new devices under its ‘Chase the Wild’ event.
While Huawei’s teaser appears to focus on the Watch GT series, the latest certification suggests that the company could have additional premium wearables ready for release.
The Watch D3 is expected to replace the Huawei Watch D2, which was launched globally in 2024. The D2 is notable for combining conventional smartwatch functions with dedicated blood pressure monitoring hardware built into its wristband.
Unlike many smartwatches that estimate cardiovascular metrics using optical sensors, the Watch D2 uses a miniature cuff and airbag mechanism to measure blood pressure.
Huawei said the device can take blood pressure measurements and monitor them at regular intervals, including while the wearer is asleep. It is also CE-MDR certified as a medical device in Europe.
The D2 also supports electrocardiogram measurements and has been positioned by Huawei as a health-focused wearable rather than simply a fitness tracker.
The emergence of the D3 certification is significant because dedicated blood pressure monitoring remains relatively uncommon among mainstream smartwatches.
According to Notebookcheck, competing devices such as Apple’s Watch Series 11, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch9 and Google’s Pixel Watch 5 do not use the same dedicated cuff-based approach for on-device blood pressure monitoring.
Huawei has not yet officially confirmed the Watch D3, its specifications, pricing or launch markets.
However, the Indonesian certification indicates that development has progressed to an advanced stage. The device is currently expected to make its debut in September 2026, potentially alongside Huawei’s upcoming global product announcements.
If launched, the Watch D3 could strengthen Huawei’s position in the growing health-focused wearable market, particularly among consumers looking for more detailed cardiovascular monitoring from a smartwatch.
For now, the certification provides the clearest indication yet that Huawei is preparing a successor to its blood-pressure-focused Watch D2, with more details likely to emerge ahead of the company’s September launch event.
