The Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has commended Governor Uba Sani for what it described as significant investments to strengthen the judiciary and improve justice delivery in the state.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Baba Lawal Aliyu, the NBA acknowledged the governor’s “Massive renovation and rehabilitation of the High Court complex,” saying the interventions will improve the working environment, mobility, and overall performance of judicial officers.
The Association also applauded the provision of 40 official vehicles to judges of the High Court, Shari’ah Court of Appeal, and Customary Court of Appeal.
According to the NBA, the restoration of robe allowance for Magistrates, including payment of the outstanding 2024 allowance in 2025, is another welcome gesture.
“These initiatives demonstrate the Government’s appreciation of the judiciary as a critical institution for the sustenance of the rule of law and effective justice delivery,” the statement stressed.
The Kaduna NBA, however, urged the governor to extend similar support to lower courts, and called for the provision of official vehicles and improved facilities for Magistrates and other judicial officers.
“Magistrates and other judicial officers at the lower courts are at the frontline of justice delivery and require adequate logistical and infrastructural support to perform their duties effectively,” Lawal Aliyu stated.
The Association added that continued investment across all levels of the judiciary will enhance access to justice, reduce case delays, and strengthen public confidence in the justice system.
