A United States District Judge, Beryl Howell, has directed attorney Jeanine Pirro to release long-awaited drug-trafficking records linked to Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, within four days.
The case, which has been pending for over three years, involves documents held by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Pirro, appointed under former President Donald Trump, had requested 10 additional days to comply, but Judge Howell set August 21, 2026, as the final deadline.
Dr. Von Batten-Montague-York, who disclosed the development on X, welcomed the ruling, stressing that the records must now be made public.
“We deeply appreciate US Attorney Pirro and the DOJ’s renewed motivation to release these documents, and we agree with Judge Howell. This case has been pending for three years. The time to release the Tinubu drug-trafficking files is now,” he wrote.
Von Batten further argued that US strategic interests with Nigeria should not obstruct transparency.
“As President Trump has indicated, our shared interests with Nigeria do not mean supporting an alleged drug trafficker,” he added.
