Nollywood stars have rallied behind veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, after his daughters made an emotional appeal for urgent medical help over his stage-four cancer battle.

Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo led the appeal, urging Nigerians and medical professionals to help the family find specialists and treatment centres capable of reviewing Ogogo’s condition.

“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote on X.

He stressed that the family was not asking for money.

“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction,” he said.

Adebayo appealed for recommendations of reputable hospitals, oncologists and advanced treatment centres, whether in Nigeria or abroad, that could assess the actor’s medical records and suggest possible treatment options.

“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist, please help reach out to his family immediately,” he added.

He also urged members of the public to circulate the appeal widely until it reached people who could help.

Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the campaign on Tuesday, sharing a video of Ogogo’s daughters on Instagram.

She asked anyone with useful medical contacts or assistance to reach out directly to the family.

“Pls kindly send dm to @kira_taiwo @limataiwo_ or me pls. Anyhow anyone can help ejoor,” she wrote.

The intervention followed separate emotional videos by Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, who disclosed that their father was battling stage-four cancer.

Lima said his condition had deteriorated and claimed hospitals had refused to continue treating him.

Kira also said the hospital handling his case could no longer administer chemotherapy.

Both daughters insisted that the family was not seeking financial donations but medical assistance that could give their father another chance.

Ogogo, 66, is one of the most recognisable veterans of Yoruba cinema.

His acting career spans more than four decades, with appearances in hundreds of films across the Nigerian movie industry.
