Major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State have expressed “absolute confidence” in the re-election of Governor Nasir Idris in the 2027 governorship election, citing what they described as his administration’s achievements across the state.

The latest endorsement came from the Managing Director of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission and APC stakeholder in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa, during an interaction with the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team in Abuja on Monday.

The media team is currently on a nationwide advocacy and engagement tour of major media organisations and critical stakeholders to highlight the achievements of the Idris administration.

Yelwa said his confidence in the governor’s re-election was based on what he described as “unprecedented development” recorded across various sectors of the state within the first two years of the administration.

According to him, people from different sectors and communities have continued to visit Birnin Kebbi to appreciate the governor for what he described as the transformation of the state’s socio-economic fortunes.

He said the commendations cut across traditional and religious institutions, women and youth groups, labour unions, the academic community, trade unions, agro-allied industries and elder statesmen.

Yelwa added that the support transcended ethnic, religious and political affiliations.

He highlighted the regular payment of scholarships and the clearance of scholarship backlogs, the construction and rehabilitation of educational institutions, the payment of outstanding pensions and gratuities, the provision of free agricultural inputs to farmers, and the construction and rehabilitation of hospitals and primary healthcare centres as some of the administration’s major achievements.

Others, he said, included economic empowerment programmes and various welfare initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.

“These and many other incentives not mentioned have made the people feel indebted and eagerly waiting to reciprocate in 2027,” Yelwa said.

“Besides, the interest of the people in his re-election supersedes his personal interest as it were.”

The HYPADEC boss also spoke on the commission’s collaboration with the Kebbi State Government, particularly in providing potable water and means of transportation for riverine communities across the state.

Yelwa said such partnerships were aimed at addressing some of the developmental challenges confronting communities in the state.

Earlier, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Ahmad Faruk, also expressed support for Governor Idris, declaring that “there is no vacancy in Kebbi State Government House” in view of what he described as the governor’s remarkable achievements and the confidence of the people in his leadership.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the Governor’s Media Team and Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the engagement tour was designed to showcase the administration’s achievements and solicit contributions from stakeholders interested in sustaining the state’s development.

He said the team would continue to engage critical stakeholders and media organisations as part of efforts to communicate the administration’s programmes and achievements to a wider audience.

The endorsements come amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with APC stakeholders in the state rallying support for Governor Idris based on the administration’s performance and development agenda.
