SAM Ohuabunwa, pharmacist, entrepreneur and former presidential aspirant, has been commended for his contributions to pharmacy, business and public service.

The commendation was contained in a statement by Livy-Elcon Emereonye, a public affairs analyst, issued to mark Ohuabunwa’s birthday.

Emereonye said Ohuabunwa had combined pharmacy practice with entrepreneurship, pharmaceutical enterprise, corporate leadership and public service.

He said Ohuabunwa’s career demonstrated how professional knowledge could be applied to entrepreneurship, job creation and economic development.

According to him, Ohuabunwa’s career also reflected the concept of “pharmapreneur” — a pharmacist who combines professional expertise with entrepreneurial activities.

He said Ohuabunwa’s experience could provide lessons for younger pharmacists and other professionals seeking to explore opportunities beyond conventional practice.

“His journey carries a powerful message for younger pharmacists and professionals: do not merely ask what your profession allows you to do; ask what your knowledge, imagination, courage and enterprise can make possible,” he said.

Emereonye said Ohuabunwa had contributed to the development of pharmacy entrepreneurship and pharmaceutical enterprise in Nigeria.

He said the pharmacist’s experience showed that professionals could participate in industrialisation, corporate leadership and economic activities beyond their conventional roles.

The analyst also referred to Ohuabunwa’s decision to contest the presidency, saying it reflected his willingness to participate in public affairs.

He said Ohuabunwa had moved from commenting on national challenges to seeking an opportunity to contribute through political participation.

“Whatever one’s political persuasion may be, his decision deserves recognition as an expression of civic courage and national commitment,” he said.

Emereonye said Ohuabunwa’s professional and national honours reflected his contributions to his profession and society.

He also highlighted his involvement in mentoring younger professionals, saying this formed part of his contribution to the development of the next generation.

According to him, Ohuabunwa’s career illustrates how professional practice, entrepreneurship, corporate leadership and public service can intersect.

Emereonye congratulated Ohuabunwa on his birthday and wished him good health, wisdom and fulfilment in the years ahead.

He also expressed the hope that Ohuabunwa’s experience in pharmacy, entrepreneurship and public affairs would continue to benefit younger professionals. (NAN)
