African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has questioned Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over his reported position on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.

Sowore made the comments in a post on X following a recent social media exchange involving him and Davido over the political activities of the Adeleke family.

The AAC presidential candidate said he had previously criticised Governor Adeleke, describing him in derogatory terms, and claimed Davido reacted angrily to his comments.

Sowore said he was now questioning reports that Davido disagreed with his uncle’s decision to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.

He also referred to an earlier post by Davido in which the singer reportedly stated that he would not support Tinubu for a second term, noting that the post was later deleted.

“But can you trust Davido on this? This is the same Davido who deleted his tweet saying he would not support Tinubu for a disastrous second term,” Sowore wrote.

Sowore urged Nigerians to judge political actors by their actions rather than their public statements.

“At the end of the day, Nigerians should watch what they do, not merely what they say,” he added.

The activist further alleged that the politics of the Adeleke family was centred on protecting family interests, maintaining influence in Osun State and safeguarding economic interests.

Sowore accused the family of treating Osun State as a “family jackpot,” while alleging that their political activities were focused on private interests rather than public service.

“That is not public service. It is politics built around private interests,” he said.

The latest exchange comes after Governor Ademola Adeleke, following his re-election in the August 15 Osun governorship election, publicly declared support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Adeleke subsequently clarified that his support was not based on any political agreement with the President but on his desire to encourage Tinubu, whom he described as a Yoruba man from the South-West, to continue his development projects in the region.

The political dispute between Sowore and Davido has added another dimension to the debate surrounding Adeleke’s relationship with Tinubu and the role of the Adeleke family in Osun politics.
