Giant mascots promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, Wednesday, flooded the streets of Abuja as the Hope Alive Initiative commenced its grassroots mobilisation in support of the administration.

The colourful street campaign, organised by the pro-good governance group, marks the official electioneering season according to the Electoral Act 2026 as amended.

The initiative said the street mobilisation was designed to take its advocacy beyond conventional political gatherings and directly engage Nigerians on the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

Speaking during the exercise, Director of Press and Communications of the Hope Alive Initiative, Ernest Omoarelojie, said the group decided to support the president because it believes his administration has taken steps capable of repositioning the country.

According to Omoarelojie, the group’s campaign is centred on encouraging good governance and urging Nigerians to assess the administration based on its policies and achievements rather than political sentiments.

Omoarelojie cited the students loan scheme, economic reforms, foreign exchange management and infrastructure development as some of the areas where he believed the administration had made progress.

“We are asking Nigerians to look beyond sentiment. Let us look at the facts as they are,” he said, arguing that the reforms require time to deliver their full impacts.

He urged Nigerians to support the administration’s continued implementation of its policies, saying the 2027 election should provide an opportunity for citizens to assess the direction of the country and decide whether the current administration deserves another mandate.
