…As Ilorin West APC holds special prayer
The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ubandawaki Ward, Ilorin West Local Government Area, has held a special prayer to mark the take-off of the Presidential and National Assembly campaigns in the state.
The prayer, which was organised by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Renaissance Movement, was attended by various Islamic clerics in Ubandawaki Ward and beyond, including Sheikh Umar Faruq Babatunde (a.k.a Sohibul Bayan Watibyan).
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was represented by his Senior Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Sa’adu Salau.
Top attendees included Chairman, Ilorin West Local Government and Chief Host, Shehu AbdulRahaman Babatunde Ladan; Hon. Nuhu Majeed Podo (Ilorin South); Hon. Olayinka Lukman Agbelere (Ilorin East); Chairman, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa; APC chieftain, Dr Ghali Alaya; Engr AbdulRahman Giwa; Alhaji Abdulrazaq Jiddah; and Lead Organiser, Hon Mubarak Salau Bello; among others.
The session also served as another platform to formally receive hundreds of PDP members from Ubandawaki Ward, who defected to the ruling APC.
“This prayer session was aimed at consolidating the blessings which the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other APC candidates had received from the Emir of Ilorin, Council of Ulamau and the entire people of the state,” Alhaji Salau told reporters on the sidelines of the event.
He said Governor AbdulRazaq has so far enjoyed the blessings and a considerable proportion of goodwill of prominent individuals and people of the state, given the track record of his achievements in the last seven years, hoping such will translate to massive votes come 2027.
He said the State APC, like before, would come up with an issue-based campaign, expressing confidence that Kwarans have witnessed positive change and cannot be swayed by antics of the opposition parties.
Speaking on the ongoing alignment and realignment by some politicians in the state, the Governor’s aide described it as normal, particularly in the electioneering period.
“Like you have witnessed here this morning, there is a massive decamp of members of the opposition parties to the APC, as the largest ruling party in Africa, and the party the people of Kwara State have decided to vote for by landslide once again in 2027,” he said.
“Governor AbdulRazaq, as the Senatorial Candidate of the APC of Kwara Central, has no problem whatsoever. We are in a multi-party system, and in full exercise of human rights, people are free to move from one party to another as allowed by the Electoral Act.
“We are assured by the entire people, including the youth, women, elders and workers because they have seen the track records of good governance which Kwara never had until AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq came to power. So, it is a merit-based issue campaign that we are sure will give us a landslide victory in 2027.”
In his Lecture, Sohibu Bayan said no resident of Kwara State, who is not sentimental or partisan, will deny Governor AbdulRazaq his credit for achieving unprecedentedly and transforming the state.
He said total perfection is due to the Almighty God and admonished the people of the state, including the opposition parties, to always strive to acknowledge good things and whoever does them.
“If you cannot support the (present) administration, don’t distract them. If you cannot appreciate the good works of the administration, don’t condemn them,” the cleric said.
“As I always say, I’m not saying there is none, but I have not seen a governor who spent his whole four years working even on the day of election, except AbdulRazaq. I have also not seen a governor who was committed to serving the state in his 1st and 2nd terms. A Governor who said he would not campaign for a 2nd term but left his work to campaign for him, and he won that election based on his track record of achievements.”
Hon Ladan and Hon Mubarak Bello, in their separate remarks, said the prayer was dedicated to seek from Almighty Allah total guidance, and to ensure the victory of the party at the polls.
“Even though we have security challenges across the country, for us in Kwara, the Governor has been very proactive in addressing the challenge. In terms of welfare and social amenities, all of these and many more have spoken louder to the extent that the people of Kwara Central want Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Senator to represent them,” Ladan said
“The good works of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq speak louder than whatever he is going to say. As we speak now, we have a lot of internal roads, including those within Ilorin and at the outskirts. We have built hospitals and revamped old ones. We have thousands of schools being built and rehabilitated,” Bello said.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of campaign vehicles to the APC leadership of Ubandawaki Ward as logistic support for campaigns.
