Nigerian technology company Aurum Digital Consulting Limited, developers of the Aftermail email platform, has launched Football FanIQ™, an all-in-one football fan intelligence platform designed to give supporters a smarter, more personalised and interactive way to experience the game.
Developed in Lagos for a global audience, Football FanIQ combines a range of tools that help supporters watch, understand, predict, track and experience football, setting it apart from conventional football news, scores and statistics platforms.
According to Aurum Digital Consulting Limited, the idea behind Football FanIQ is to create a technology platform that puts the individual fan at the centre of the football experience.
“Football fans already have countless places to find scores and news. We did not want to build another one. Football FanIQ is about giving supporters useful tools that make the experience of following football more personal, informed and interactive,” a spokesperson for Aurum Digital Consulting Limited said.
From Match Discovery to Tactical Analysis
One of the platform’s key features is WatchFinder, which helps football supporters discover where they can watch matches across 195 countries.
The company said the tool is designed to address the often-frustrating question of where a particular match is available to watch, particularly for fans following leagues and competitions outside their home countries.
Football FanIQ also introduces PredictIQ, a feature that allows supporters to make match predictions and compete against the platform’s artificial intelligence.
According to Aurum Digital Consulting Limited, the feature is intended to add an interactive and competitive dimension to match viewing while allowing fans to test their football knowledge against AI.
For supporters interested in understanding what happens on the pitch, Talking Tactics provides tactical breakdowns focused on formations, patterns of play and the strategic decisions that influence matches.
The company said the feature is designed to help fans move beyond simply watching football to better understanding the tactical elements behind what they see during games.
Football FanIQ Tackles the VAR Debate
Aurum Digital Consulting Limited said VAR Decoder was developed to address one of the biggest talking points in modern football — controversial refereeing and video assistant referee decisions.
The feature explains disputed decisions and relevant football rules in straightforward language, giving supporters context on why a particular decision may have been made.
“VAR has become an important part of the modern game, but many fans still struggle to understand why particular decisions are made. With VAR Decoder, we want to make the rules and decisions easier to understand before fans join the wider debate,” the company spokesperson said.
Tracking the Emotional and Financial Side of Fandom
Beyond match analysis, Football FanIQ also explores the personal relationship between supporters and their clubs.
Its MindScore feature enables fans to track the emotional highs and lows associated with following their teams, creating a personal record of how victories, defeats and major football moments affect their experience.
The platform also features FanWallet, which supports more than 40 currencies and allows supporters to monitor their football-related spending.
According to the company, FanWallet can help fans keep track of expenses such as subscriptions, match tickets, travel and merchandise, giving them a clearer picture of the financial cost of supporting their favourite teams.
Football FanIQ also includes MatchIQ, which helps supporters organise the fixtures that matter most to them, while Fan Rights provides information and tools designed to help football consumers better understand their rights.
‘From Nigeria to the World’
Aurum Digital Consulting Limited said Football FanIQ represents part of its broader ambition to build technology products in Nigeria that can compete for attention in the global market.
“For a long time, African consumers have largely received technology products built elsewhere and adapted for our markets. We want to demonstrate that the direction can also be reversed,” the spokesperson said.
“Football FanIQ is being developed in Lagos with the ambition to serve football fans anywhere in the world. For us, it is from Nigeria to the world, and not from the world to Nigeria.”
The company said its decision to develop the platform in Lagos reflects its confidence in Nigeria’s growing technology ecosystem and the ability of local developers and entrepreneurs to build products for international audiences.
Why Aurum Chose a Progressive Web App
Football FanIQ is delivered as a Progressive Web App (PWA), enabling users to access the platform through a web browser and add it to their phone’s home screen for an app-like experience.
Aurum Digital Consulting Limited said the decision was driven by accessibility, convenience and the need to make the platform suitable for users across different markets.
“We deliberately chose a Progressive Web App approach because accessibility matters. Fans can open Football FanIQ directly in their browser, add it to their home screen and use it much like an app, while keeping the experience lightweight and reducing unnecessary data consumption,” the spokesperson said.
“That is particularly important when you are building for both African and global users.”
Building a New Football Technology Experience
With the launch, Aurum Digital Consulting Limited is positioning Football FanIQ as Nigeria’s first all-in-one football fan intelligence app, bringing match discovery, AI predictions, tactical analysis, VAR explanations, emotional tracking, spending management and fan rights into a single platform.
Rather than competing directly with traditional football news and scores services, the company said Football FanIQ is designed to complement the way supporters already consume football while giving them more tools to personalise their experience.
The platform is inviting football fans to find where to watch their matches, challenge its AI, understand VAR decisions, explore tactical breakdowns, monitor the financial and emotional dimensions of fandom and build a more personalised relationship with the game.
