Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following a video showing the singer with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Sowore, in a post on X, questioned Davido’s meeting with Wike coming shortly after the August 15 Osun State governorship election, which was won by Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle.

The activist accused Nigerian politicians and their supporters of misleading the public while allegedly pursuing their own interests behind the scenes.

Sowore specifically described Davido’s interaction with Wike as inconsistent with the political rhetoric surrounding the Osun election, referencing the controversy generated by the phrase “agreement is agreement” during the election period.

He also linked his criticism to the violence recorded around the Osun governorship election, alleging that the poll was marred by deadly violence and loss of lives.

Sowore wrote: “Here is the loud and lousy @davido genuflecting before Nyesom Wike @GovWike, barely a week after their ‘agreement is agreement’ election politics in Osun.”

He accused political actors of publicly engaging in insults and outrage while allegedly maintaining relationships based on shared political interests.

The activist further described the political actors involved as “political hustlers” and alleged that their public positions could differ from their actions when their interests were involved.

Sowore’s comments come days after the Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Davido had been an outspoken supporter of his uncle during the election campaign.
