Joao Pedro extends Chelsea stay

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro has signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League club, extending his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2032, with an option for a further two years.

The Brazilian forward’s new deal reinforces Chelsea’s commitment to the 24-year-old following an impressive debut season at the club.

Joao Pedro joined Chelsea from Brighton for a reported £60 million ($82 million) last year and quickly established himself as an important player in the squad.

Joao Pedro commits future to Chelsea

The striker expressed his delight after signing the new agreement, saying he was pleased to make a long-term commitment to the London club.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,” Joao Pedro told the club’s website.

“I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and it has big ambitions for the future.”

Joao Pedro also said he had quickly settled in at Chelsea and developed strong relationships within the club.

“I have a very good relationship with everyone here at the club and I have felt at home here in London from the moment that I joined,” he added.

Striker impressed in debut season

Joao Pedro enjoyed an impressive first campaign with Chelsea, scoring 20 goals and becoming one of the club’s key attacking options.

His performances have also reportedly attracted interest from Spanish giants Barcelona, making his new contract an important move for Chelsea as they seek to retain their emerging stars.

The new agreement signals the club’s determination to keep the Brazilian at Stamford Bridge for the long term.

Joao Pedro looks ahead to new season

Joao Pedro was reportedly a surprise omission from Brazil’s squad for this year’s World Cup, but his focus now turns to continuing his development at Chelsea.

Chelsea, under new manager Xabi Alonso, are set to begin their Premier League campaign away against west London rivals Fulham on Monday.

The Blues will be hoping Joao Pedro can reproduce his goalscoring form and play a major role as the club targets success in the new season.
