Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have dislodged a suspected bandits’ hideout in Makarfi Local Government Area and rescued three kidnapped victims unharmed.
According to a press release made available on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the operation followed credible intelligence received on Thursday, 21st August 2026 at about 10:00 am regarding suspicious movements around Gidan Mijin Gwaggo, Durum, in Makarfi LGA.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, the Divisional Police Officer of Makarfi Division led a patrol team in collaboration with local vigilantes to the location.
“Upon sighting the approaching security personnel, the kidnappers opened fire. The team responded and engaged the assailants in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes with gunshot injuries,” the statement stressed.
During a search of a house belonging to one Yakubu Sule, police discovered that it was being used as a hideout by suspected bandits, as three recent kidnap victims were believed to be held therein.
The victims, including Alhaji Hamza Shuaibu Gimi and two others, were successfully rescued unharmed. A Boxer motorcycle suspected to have been used by the kidnappers was also recovered from the premises.
The Command said the rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
CP Muhammad commended the Police personnel and local vigilantes involved in the operation for their “prompt response and effective collaboration.”
He reassured residents of Makarfi and the entire state of the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and stronger community partnerships aimed at denying criminal elements safe havens.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to the Police, noting that “collective efforts remain critical to the protection of lives and property and the sustenance of peace across the State.”.
