The Arewa Community APC in the 17 southern states has congratulated Alhaji Comrade Yerima Shettima on his appointment as Deputy Director, Labour Union Relations II in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.
The group described the appointment as a recognition of Shettima’s years of political engagement, community mobilisation and contribution to socio-political development, particularly in Lagos and the South-West.
In a statement jointly signed by Prince Alhaji Aliyu Bambado II, Galadima of Lagos I and Advisory Leader of Arewa Community APC, and Alhaji Sa’adu Yusuf Dandare Gulma, Garkuwan Kabawan Kudu and Coordinating Chairman of the group in Lagos and the 17 southern states, they described the appointment as well deserved.
The group said Shettima had remained a prominent voice in the Northern socio-political space while also building relationships across different communities and regions.
It noted his involvement with the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative (NSCI), Save Nigeria Group and NADECO, among other platforms.
The statement added that Shettima’s experience in community development, conflict resolution and political mobilisation had earned him recognition beyond the North.
“Senator Alhaji Yerima Shettima has contributed tremendously to community development, conflict resolution and political mobilisation in Lagos and across the South-West.
“His emergence as Deputy National Chairman of the Young Democrats Party (YDP) also underscores his commitment to public service,” the statement said.
The group said his new role in the campaign council placed his experience in political and community engagement within a structure responsible for mobilising support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group described the appointment as “a sign that the reward of hard work is more work,” and urged Shettima to continue upholding the values of loyalty, integrity and service to humanity.
It prayed for Allah’s guidance and strength for him as he takes up the new responsibility and works towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027.
