The Rotary Club of Abuja Ministers Hill has formally ushered in the 2026–2027 Rotary Year with a handover and project fundraising ceremony, with the club’s new president, Rotarian Pius Osaroejii, calling for renewed commitment, unity and collective action to deliver lasting impact in the community.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Osaroejii expressed appreciation to the outgoing leadership for laying a strong foundation for the club, assuring members that the new administration would build on the achievements recorded so far.
He said the new Rotary Year would focus on meaningful service, stressing that the responsibility of creating lasting impact should not rest on the president alone but on every member of the club.
He said the club’s community service projects require resources, commitment and collective effort, urging Rotarians, friends, partners and well-wishers to contribute according to their capacity.
According to him, every contribution, no matter how small, could make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable members of the community.
Osaroejii particularly highlighted the club’s maternal and child health initiatives, noting that some women in underserved communities struggle to afford basic healthcare services and may delay seeking medical attention because of costs.
He said such situations could expose mothers and newborns to preventable complications and deaths.
He pledged that his administration would work with members and partners to strengthen projects aimed at ensuring safer childbirth and better health outcomes for mothers and children.
“This is your club, this project is your project, and this is your opportunity to serve,” he told Rotarians, urging them to work together to make the new Rotary Year a period of hope, harmony and lasting impact.
The president also called on members to uphold the core values of Rotary, including humility, love for humanity, fellowship and selfless service.
Ezenwa Anumnu Esq, a legal practitioner and Assistant Governor (AG) overseeing the Rotary Club of Abuja Ministers Hill, described the transition to the new administration as smooth and seamless, commending the collaboration, cooperation and unity demonstrated by members.
He said he was looking forward to an impactful 2026–2027 Rotary Year, in line with the theme of the new administration.
He noted that the projects proposed by the new president reflected continuity from the immediate past administration, stressing that Rotary is built on continuity rather than individual projects.
According to him, some ongoing initiatives may require fine-tuning or completion, while the club’s key areas of focus have been clearly and intentionally captured in the new administration’s plans.
Anumnu urged the immediate past president to remain actively involved in the affairs of the club, saying that service in Rotary does not end when a member leaves office.
He said the experience gained during the past year would be valuable to the new president and called for continued advice, presence and contribution from the former president.
Speaking about the new president, he described him as energetic, vibrant and charismatic, expressing confidence in his ability to drive the club towards achieving its targets.
He said the goals set by the new administration were realistic and achievable with the support and commitment of all members.
Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Abuja Ministers Hill, Rotarian Adams Oyarekhua, said the leadership transition marked not only a change in leadership but also the continuation of the club’s journey of service, fellowship and empowerment.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and congratulated the incoming president and new board, urging members to remain united, supportive and committed to the ideals of Rotary.
Oyarekhua noted that while leadership may change, the club’s shared commitment to service and community development must remain constant, appreciating guests, families, friends and members for their presence at the ceremony.
