Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State have been commended for sacrificing their personal ambitions and placing the unity and collective interest of the party above individual considerations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commendation came from the New Dawn Network in a statement issued on Sunday by its Secretary-General, Funsho Amodu, a copy of which was made available to Arewa PUNCH in Ilorin.
The group, which hailed former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for his role in fostering unity and stability within the party, also specifically commended Omar Bolaji Gambari, Prof. Ali Ahmed, Prof. Muritala Awodun, Dr Audu, Hon. Abdullahi Olayinka Amule and Hon. Mashood Mustapha for what it described as their political maturity and sacrifice.
“We commend the exemplary display of political maturity and sacrifice by prominent stakeholders, including Mallam Omar Bolaji Gambari, Prof. Ali Ahmed, Prof. Muritala Awodun, Dr Audu, Hon. Abdullahi Olayinka Amule and Hon. Mashood Mustapha, who prioritised party cohesion over personal ambitions,” the statement read in part.
According to the group, the stakeholders’ actions reflected leadership and responsibility and demonstrated their commitment to the collective interest of the PDP as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The New Dawn Network also congratulated Senator Saliu Mustapha, Dr Kolo Baba Jiya and Hon. Saheed Popoola on their emergence as senatorial candidates across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“The emergence of Senator Saliu Mustapha, Dr Kolo Baba Jiya and Hon. Prince Saheed Popoola as senatorial candidates across the three districts is a testament to the party’s strength and inclusiveness,” Amodu stated.
“We congratulate them on their victories and wish them success in the upcoming elections,” it noted further.
The group, while heaping accolades on Saraki, described his leadership style as being instrumental to the efforts that helped to maintain peace and stability within the Kwara PDP.
“The New Dawn Network recognises the tireless efforts of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki in fostering unity and progress within the PDP,” the statement added.
“His leadership has been instrumental in maintaining peace and stability within the party,” it lamposted
The group also called on residents of the state to support Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka and Rev. COS Fawenu, saying the duo had the capacity to lead Kwara towards greater development.
“The time for change is now. Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka and Rev. COS Fawenu are ready to lead Kwara into an era of true development — job creation for our youth, support for our farmers and quality healthcare,” the group pointed out.
It urged residents to embrace unity, peace, discipline and respect for democratic processes as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.
“We urge everyone to rally behind these two men of integrity and capability and participate actively in the forthcoming election,” the statement insisted.
