The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled an alleged illegal “baby factory” in Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children while arresting six suspects in connection with the operation.

The breakthrough was recorded by operatives of the Mowe Division during an intelligence-led operation conducted on Monday, August 24, 2026, at a suspected syndicate hideout in Abaren Village, Mowe.

The police said the facility, located on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, had allegedly been used for human trafficking and illegal adoption activities.

According to the Command, operatives stormed the location at about 8am following sustained intelligence on the activities of the suspected syndicate.

Two pregnant women identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who was seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who was eight months pregnant, were rescued during the operation.

Four children, comprising two boys and two girls, were also recovered from the facility.

The police subsequently conducted further intelligence-led operations within the Mowe axis and traced the activities to a hospital where another alleged victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, had reportedly given birth to a baby boy on August 20, 2026.

The Command said the mother was receiving medical treatment when police operatives arrived, but the whereabouts of her newborn baby could not be accounted for.

The attending nurse, identified as Oseni Kusamotu Idaya, was subsequently arrested as police commenced efforts to locate the missing newborn.

The six suspects arrested in connection with the alleged baby factory are Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and the attending nurse, Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.

The police said the case was being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The investigation is expected to determine the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s activities, locate the missing newborn and establish the culpability of those involved.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Mowe Division operatives for what he described as their operational efficiency and prompt response.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating human trafficking, child trading and other forms of violent crime across Ogun State.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide the police with timely and credible information about suspicious persons and activities.

The Commissioner assured residents that the Command would continue to deploy intelligence-led policing to protect citizens, particularly vulnerable women and children.

The police urged members of the public to report suspicious activities through the Gateway Shield toll-free line and the Command’s emergency numbers.
