Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law has paid an emotional tribute to late veteran Yoruba actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, recalling how the Nollywood legend shaped some of his fondest childhood memories.

In a heartfelt message shared after Ogogo’s death, Seyi Law described the late actor as a superstar whose remarkable career left an enduring mark on the Nigerian movie industry and inspired generations of fans.

The comedian reminisced about growing up around Odunfa Street in Lagos, where he would eagerly fetch water just to catch a glimpse of Ogogo and veteran actor, Yinka Quadri at the famous Odunfa Caucus building.

“I remember going to fetch water and running to Odunfa Street to catch a glimpse of you and Uncle Yinka Quadri at the Odunfa Caucus building. It was always thrilling to see you step onto the balcony with your smile,” Seyi Law wrote.

He also recalled seeing other Nollywood icons, including the late Baba Suwe, whose office was located near his childhood neighbourhood, saying those experiences made him proud to tell his classmates that he lived close to celebrities.

Seyi Law revealed that one of his most memorable moments was seeing his family house appear in one of Ogogo’s films.

“I recall how we screamed the day we saw our house in one of the movies you starred in. I also remember my pride when I told my friends at school that I used to see celebrities because they lived close to our house,” he said.

The comedian praised Ogogo’s unforgettable performances in films such as Legal Wife, where he starred alongside the late Bimpe Adekola, and the iconic Owo Blow series.

He also celebrated the actor’s famous catchphrase, “Mo fi titobi Olorun Oba bura,” describing it as one of the most memorable expressions in Yoruba cinema.

“Your role in Owo Blow parts one to three is forever legendary. Your catchphrase, ‘Mo fi titobi Olorun Oba bura,’ combined with your calm demeanour, is iconic. Your aura belongs to a true superstar,” he wrote.

Seyi Law mourned the veteran actor while celebrating his enduring legacy in the Nigerian film industry.

“Uncle Taiwo Hassan, our beloved Ogogo Omo Kulodo, we mourn your passing and celebrate your lasting impact on the Nigerian movie industry, as well as your contributions as an inspiration for our generation. Ogogo Omo Kulodo, sun re o.”

Ogogo was buried in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites after his death following a battle with stage four cancer.
