Huawei Nigeria has hosted the Huawei Nigeria IP&OpticX Club 2026 to explore the role of secure network infrastructure in Nigeria’s digital transformation.
The event, themed ‘Secure Networks Powering Nigeria’s Digital Future,’ examined how secure, intelligent and reliable networks can help organisations accelerate digital transformation, adopt artificial intelligence and support increasingly connected business operations.
This was disclosed in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday.
The event, which was held on August 21, 2026, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos State, featured insights from government, financial services, hospitality, SMEs, and other industries, together with Huawei technology experts and ecosystem partners.
According to the statement, the Chief Technology Officer, ICT Marketing & Solution Sales Department, Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa, Matamela Mashau, highlighted the evolution of networks from basic connectivity into an intelligent foundation for Industrial All Intelligence.
“Huawei highlighted next-generation pre-Wi-Fi 8 superfast wireless experience, full-scope security protection from endpoint onboarding, greater security and peace of mind upon campus entry, and wireless fault auto-resolution. Together, these capabilities help deliver a better user experience while improving network availability, security, and operational efficiency,” the statement partly read.
In his remark, the Head of Network Administration & Support Unit, Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Oteniya Olorunlani, revealed that the state government is working to support public sector innovation and extend digital benefits across society.
He noted that the state’s digital development vision is guided by the Lagos State Development Plan 2052, with Digital Government and Smart City as key directions.
Also, the Solution Design Engineer, MTN Network Enterprise Service, Taiwo Abigael, introduced MTN’s government and enterprise services and highlighted the growing cooperation between MTN Nigeria and Huawei.
The statement added that through this partnership, MTN and Huawei are “working together to provide Nigerian enterprises with bundled dedicated connectivity and network coverage services, making it easier for businesses to build secure, reliable, and intelligent digital infrastructure.”
The event concluded with remarks from Tulin, Director of the Enterprise Network Solution Department at Huawei Nigeria, who emphasised that as digital transformation accelerates across Nigeria, networks are becoming increasingly important to business operations.
He noted that “Huawei remains committed to working closely with Nigerian customers and partners, bringing innovative technologies and solutions to the market and supporting digital transformation across industries.”
Other speakers at the event include the Project Director at Augix Resources Limited, Olufemi Patrick; a Solution Architect at Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa, Wu Han, among others.
