A roving crew of car burglars targeted the Fulton Market neighborhood in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, smashing vehicle windows and stealing personal items from at least eight parked cars in the span of approximately one hour, according to a Chicago Police Department community alert from the 12th District.

The Eight Incidents

All eight incidents occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 25, 2026.

1000 block of West Carroll Street. Fulton Market.

200 block of North Aberdeen Street. Fulton Market.

200 block of West Aberdeen Street. Fulton Market.

1100 block of West Carroll Street. Fulton Market.

The suspects targeted multiple cars near Aberdeen and Carroll Streets, hitting some blocks more than once before moving on.

Their Method

The suspects drove a dark colored vehicle through the Fulton Market area in the early morning hours.

In most incidents, they shattered vehicle windows to gain entry, then stole personal items left inside the cars before moving to the next target.

Suspect Description

Chicago Police describe the suspects as one to two unknown males wearing black hooded sweatshirts, driving a dark colored vehicle of unknown make and model.

How to Protect Your Vehicle

Chicago Police advise residents and visitors parking in the Fulton Market area to remove all personal items from their vehicles before leaving them parked overnight.

Do not leave bags, laptops, phones, or any valuables visible inside your car. Park in well-lit areas where possible.

No arrests have been made. The 12th District is investigating.
