Arsenal have confirmed the departure of Reiss Nelson after 18 years with the club, according to a statement on the club’s website on Thursday.

The 26-year-old winger leaves the Gunners after the club agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect, making him a free agent.

Nelson joined Arsenal’s academy as a youngster and progressed through the youth ranks before signing his first professional contract in December 2016.

He made 90 first-team appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists.

Nelson was part of Arsenal’s FA Cup-winning squad in 2020 and also featured in the club’s FA Community Shield victories in 2017 and 2020.

During his time at Arsenal, he had four loan spells, spending the 2018/19 season with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim before joining Feyenoord in the 2021/22 campaign.

He later spent the 2024/25 season at Fulham and remained in west London with Brentford last season.

Confirming his departure, Arsenal said: “Together with Reiss, we agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect for him to become a free agent.”

The club also thanked the England youth international for his contribution over the years.

“Everyone at the club thanks Reiss for his contribution to Arsenal. We wish him and his family well for the future,” Arsenal said.
