…Task them on Transparency, Accountability

The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, on Wednesday swore in newly appointed Commissioners and Special Advisers, charging them to uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking during the ceremony held at the Government House in Lafia on Wednesday, Governor Sule further charged the appointees to be prudent and transparent in managing resources.

According to him, his administration would spare no efforts in booting out scapegoats found wanting, urging them to work hard to deliver the mandate of his administration for the remaining months.

” You must uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, professionalism, and accountability in all your deliberations”, Sule said.

Similarly, the governor ordered the immediate investigation, arrest, and prosecution of some health workers involved in stealing and sale of hospital equipment donated by a lawmaker to the general hospital in Umaisha Development Area of Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The governor, who described the act as a crime against humanity, directed the Commissioner of Health to investigate, dismiss and prosecute all those behind the crime to serve as a deterrent to others.

Sule explained that the items were donated by Ibrahim Sa’ad Abdullahi, a member representing Umaisha-Ugya constituency, to the hospital as part of his commitment to strengthen health care delivery, but were carted away by some individuals

The governor expressed concern over the criminal attitude of the officials, describing it as unfortunate and uncalled for.

” Quickly arrest them and prosecute them. Because their own corruption is of the highest limit. It’s a corruption of lack of sympathy and lack of consideration even for people who are sick.

“I’m waiting for the honourable commissioner, and I expect that report by the end of this week,” he demanded.
