The African Democratic Congress, (ADC) has cautioned a governorship aspirant of the party in Oyo State, Mr Alagbe Gbemileke (a.k.a. Eleniyan) and the other aggrieved members, to stop causing confusion in the party.
Speaking on Wednesday on a radio station in Ibadan, Oyo state capital,
the Deputy National Financial Secretary of the ADC, Oladimeji Fadeyi, asserted that Olooye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke is the governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State for the 2027 general election.
Fadeyi called on Alagbe Gbemileke and other aggrieved members of the party in the state to sheathe their swords and join hands with Adegoke to win the state governorship polls in 2027 and take the Pacesetter State to the next level of development.
Fadeyi while clarifying the true situation of things within the ADC in Oyo state and at the national level, said Olooye Adegoke is the recognized and bonafide governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State, having gone through a recognized primary organized by the party and confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
“The ADC has succeeded in presenting credible people to represent the party in the coming elections, and Oyo state inclusive. We had primaries that produced who to represent the party. For instance, in Oyo State, we had primaries that produced Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA) as the candidate for the governorship. So, we went through direct primaries and members of the party chose him to represent them in the next election in 2027″.
Speaking on the chances of the party’s Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the January 2027 Presidential election, the party officer said the former Vice President has the experience and solutions to remove the challenges facing the country.
He also debunked series of rumours surrounding the image of the Adamawa-state-born politician, saying he remains a credible candidate. “This man, at some point, even when he was in government, managed our economy. He is somebody who discovered the talents that made the government thick, and stood firm on the side of rule of law. And that is what he’s still fighting till today, because he stood against the third term agenda of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“This man went to Court 21 times and won against his boss without bribing a Judge, without seeing any Court Registrar behind the scenes. When he was Chairman of the Economic Council— that was when our GDP made a record growth and no government has been able to meet the economic growth that Atiku supervised.
“Today, the GSM that people are using to abuse this same Atiku, he revolutionized it. And every time Atiku is running for presidency, he would tell you what he wants to do and how he’s going to do it. He has started again.
In 2023, President Bola Tinubu ran away from presidential debate. He couldn’t tell us what he wanted to do. That was why you could see those lots of policy somersaults, including the removal of subsidy that they’re talking about now”, Fadeyi said.
