Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued two kidnapped victims, recovered 94 rustled livestock and disrupted terrorist activities in separate operations conducted in Kaduna and Kano states.

The operations were carried out on August 25 and 26, 2026, according to the Media Information Officer of the operation, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

Danja said troops of Sector 1, while conducting a clearance operation in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on August 25, encountered terrorists who attempted to ambush them.

He said the troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee, while a motorcycle was recovered during exploitation of the area.

In a separate operation the same day, troops responded to a distress call over the abduction of three civilians and rustling of livestock around Hayin Babangida in Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

According to Danja, the troops tracked and engaged the terrorists, rescuing two female victims who were subsequently reunited with their families.

He, however, said the third victim, a male, sustained a gunshot wound inflicted by the terrorists and died while being evacuated for medical attention.

In Kano State, Danja said troops responded to reports of terrorist activities in Gwarzo Local Government Area after the criminals rustled livestock from a community.

He said the troops pursued the terrorists and engaged them as they attempted to escape, forcing them to abandon the livestock and flee.

“Further exploitation of the area on 26 August 2026 resulted in the recovery of additional livestock, bringing the total recovered to 94, comprising 57 cows and 37 sheep,” he said.

Danja said the recovered livestock were handed over to their rightful owners in the presence of representatives of security agencies and local government authorities.

He said the operations demonstrated the determination of Operation Fansan Yamma to sustain pressure on terrorist and criminal elements while protecting lives and livelihoods across its Joint Operations Area.

“The Joint Task Force will continue to take the fight to these criminal elements through intelligence-driven operations, aggressive patrols and rapid response to threats against communities,” he said.

Danja commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information on suspicious activities to security forces.

He said public cooperation remained vital to efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and security across the North-West region.
