Former Cross River State Governor and presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Donald Duke, has described President Bola Tinubu as a formidable political opponent ahead of the 2027 general election.

Duke, while speaking about the president’s political strength and experience, said Tinubu is not the kind of politician an opponent should underestimate.

He illustrated his point with a colourful analogy, likening Tinubu to a lion with horns and warning that anyone who chooses to confront such an opponent without the right political tools could end up becoming the dinner.

“You don’t go to fight a lion who also has horns. Can you imagine a lion with horns? It is already a dangerous animal. Then you now give it horns and say go and fight it with a knife and fork. You will be the dinner.”

Duke’s comments come as political activities and alignments begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

His remarks have sparked conversations about Tinubu’s political experience, influence and the level of preparation required by anyone seeking to challenge him at the polls.

With the 2027 race expected to feature intense political competition, Duke’s lion with horns analogy has added another talking point to the growing conversation about the battle ahead.
