The Anambra State Police Command has assured residents, election observers and other stakeholders of adequate security ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Election in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, gave the assurance on Friday, August 28, 2026, when he received a delegation of accredited election observers at the Command Headquarters in Awka.
The police boss said the Command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, had harmonised operational plans and deployed adequate personnel and logistics across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, the deployment is aimed at providing a secure environment for voters, electoral officials, accredited observers and other stakeholders before, during and after the election.
CP Nnanna said security personnel had also been strategically positioned across the state to facilitate the free movement of law-abiding citizens while responding firmly to any act capable of threatening public peace and security.
He urged residents to come out and exercise their civic responsibilities without fear, assuring them that the police and other security agencies would continue to work together to protect lives and property throughout the electoral process.
The Commissioner also assured the accredited observers that the security agencies were fully prepared to support a peaceful, secure and credible Local Government Election in Anambra.
Representatives of the Nigeria Youth for the Advancement of Democracy Initiative, Abuja; Grassroots Women Empowerment Association of Nigeria; Nigeria Progressive Women and Youth Development Initiatives; and Youth for Agriculture Initiatives were present during the meeting.
The assurance comes as security preparations intensify across Anambra ahead of the state’s Local Government Election.
