African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has claimed he possesses evidence showing that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old and is prepared to present it in court if required.
The former vice president made the assertion in an interview with the BBC published on Friday.
He linked the claim to his decision to continue seeking the presidency, arguing that he remains healthy and strong while describing the incumbent as elderly and unwell.
“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick and I am healthy and strong. So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?” Atiku said.
“You went and voted for someone who is 90 years old. I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court.”
Atiku also defended his multiple presidential bids, pointing to his long-standing opposition to military rule and previous disqualifications as reasons for his persistence.
He stressed that the constitution grants him the right to contest and that his experience, competence and patriotism equip him to lead the country.
On security, the ADC candidate blamed government failures in defence and policing for the nation’s insecurity challenges. He pledged to resolve the problems within one year of assuming office.
