The National Speaker of the Women Parliament of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ambassador Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdullahi, has called on women leaders of the party across the country to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and consolidate party structures ahead of future elections.

Abdullahi made the call during a strategic meeting between the SDP national women leadership and state women leaders held in Abuja.

She stressed the need for women to build strong and functional structures at the state, ward and community levels, noting that effective organisation and mobilisation remain critical to political success.

According to her, electoral victories are not achieved through wishful thinking but through commitment, sacrifice, strategic planning and sustained grassroots engagement.

The SDP Women Parliament, she said, is committed to strengthening its structures nationwide and attracting more women into active participation in the party’s activities.

“This meeting provides an opportunity for us to assess our progress, identify challenges, strengthen our structures and develop practical strategies for taking the SDP message to every ward, community and household,” she said.

The National Speaker urged state women leaders to regard themselves as key pillars of the party and to demonstrate discipline, focus, teamwork and commitment to the SDP’s vision.

She also called for unity among women in the party, stressing that collective action would enhance the strength of party structures and amplify women’s voices within the political space.

Abdullahi commended the dedication and sacrifices of the state women leaders, especially those who travelled long distances at their own expense to attend the meeting.

She charged them to return to their respective states with renewed determination and ensure that the resolutions reached at the meeting translate into tangible results.

“Our strength is in our unity, our power is in our organisation, and our weapon is our determination. We must organise, mobilise and deliver results,” she declared.

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the SDP, Professor Sadiq Gombe, represented by the party’s Deputy National Chairman, South, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, assured women of greater inclusion in the affairs of the party.

He disclosed that the SDP was currently undergoing reforms and reorganisation aimed at strengthening its structures and positioning the party for future political engagements.

Gombe reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring that women occupy their rightful place in party administration, political appointments and elective positions.

He further revealed that the party’s forthcoming manifesto would contain policies designed to promote greater participation and inclusion of women across various sectors.

The SDP chairman described the party as an ideological platform dedicated to the welfare of Nigerians and guided by the principles enshrined in Chapter Two of the Constitution.

He urged women leaders to sustain grassroots mobilisation efforts and prepare women across the country for active participation in the party’s future campaigns and programmes.

Gombe also commended the National Woman Leader and other women leaders for their commitment and sacrifices toward mobilising women for the growth and success of the SDP.
