Hollywood action star Vin Diesel has surprised fans worldwide with an emotional musical tribute to late country music icon Dolly Parton, delivering a heartfelt rendition of one of her most famous songs.
The Fast & Furious actor, 59, shared a video of himself singing Parton’s classic love ballad “I Will Always Love You” in honour of the legendary singer, whose death this week triggered an outpouring of tributes from celebrities across the world.
Diesel’s slow and deeply personal performance, shared alongside a black-and-white image of Parton, caught many fans off guard, with thousands praising the actor for showing a more emotional side beyond his tough-guy Hollywood image.
The tribute quickly went viral, with fans flooding social media with reactions ranging from surprise to admiration.
“Dolly Parton got Vin Diesel singing and it’s a serious tribute. I don’t think people truly understood her impact,” one fan wrote.
Another joked: “That’s what Groot has been saying all this time,” referencing Diesel’s famous role as the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Others called the performance one of the most unexpected celebrity tributes of the year, with some fans even asking Diesel to release the full version.
“Didn’t have crying to Vin Diesel singing on my list today, but here we are,” another fan posted.
Parton’s influence has continued to cross generations and musical boundaries since news of her death broke. The country legend was remembered by stars from different industries, including rapper Eminem, who shared a touching message Parton sent him after his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
In the message, Parton praised Eminem’s talent and described him as an artist who had touched people around the world.
However, not every tribute has received the same reaction. Actor Ricky Schroder faced criticism after mentioning his disagreements with some of Parton’s public views while paying tribute to her.
Several celebrities criticised Schroder’s comments, arguing that his tribute focused more on political differences than celebrating Parton’s life and legacy.
Parton’s family has announced plans for a private funeral, with no confirmed details yet about a public memorial service.
Known for timeless hits including “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” and countless charitable efforts, Dolly Parton leaves behind a legacy that stretched far beyond music.
