A mother of two, Hafsat Yusuf, has dragged her ex-husband, Muhammad Ahmad to a Shari’a Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, Kaduna State, over alleged debt owed her and non-payment of monthly maintenance.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he alleged that the complainant had been the one taking care of the children adding that at a time she paid the children’s school fees to the sum of N200, 500 for a whole session.
He added that his client wanted the defendant, Muhammad, to pay back the school fees because it was his responsibility and not hers.
Umar also prayed the court to make the defendant take responsibility of the children’s school, hospital, feeding fees, well-being and N150, 000 for monthly maintenance.
He equally asked that the complainant be given access to carry her LG refrigerator and pick her gold necklace allegedly worth three grams at the defendant’s house.
The defendant in his defense said he had sent his ex-wife N100, 000 for first term school fees of the children expressing his disagreement on the amount she said she paid.
Muhammad added that he had been giving the complainant N30, 000 monthly and can afford only that amount.
“I will return her refrigerator to her but I don’t know anything regarding her gold necklace; and I want prove of the amount she paid for their school fees,” he said.
The judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, adjourned the case until September 2 for the complainant to produce her witnesses and present evidence of school fees payment.
