The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date a final lifeline, extending the deadline for accepting or rejecting such offers to September 30, 2026.

The Board, which had earlier fixed August 31 as the deadline, warned that there would be no further extension after the new deadline, with all outstanding offers neither accepted nor rejected automatically reverted to “Not Admitted” on its records.

The extension affects candidates with pending admission offers, including regular and CUIIA admissions, who are yet to indicate whether they accept or reject the offers.

In a statement, JAMB urged affected candidates not to wait until the deadline, stressing that failure to take action would have consequences for the status of their admissions.

Candidates who accept their offers will be able to proceed to print their admission letters, while those who reject them will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted,” enabling the Board to update its national admission records.

The Board also clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where they were previously offered admission, or who are currently enrolled in a different programme, may accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.

Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but with an earlier unaccepted admission offer may reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.

JAMB further allayed concerns among candidates offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but who still have previous admission offers pending, saying they may reject the earlier offers without any adverse effect on their 2026 admissions.

According to the Board, the extension is intended to provide affected candidates with one final opportunity to regularise their admission status while enabling JAMB to maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission records.

It emphasised that at the expiration of the extended deadline on September 30, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that remain neither accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” and remain so on the Board’s records.

“Candidates should note that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period will render the offer invalid,” the Board warned
