Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, recovered weapons and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist enclaves in Kaduna and Katsina states.

The operations were conducted separately on August 27 and 28, 2026, as part of intensified efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and deny them freedom of movement across the North-West.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 1 acted on intelligence regarding the apprehension of a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State on August 27.

The suspect was reportedly found in possession of two locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed inside a bag.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly disclosed that he had been assigned to deliver the weapons and ammunition to another individual.

Acting on the information provided, troops conducted a follow-up operation and arrested two additional suspects allegedly connected to the movement of the weapons.

The three suspects, alongside the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation, according to the military.

In a separate operation on August 28, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, carried out a clearance operation against identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops successfully cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures allegedly being used by terrorists to support their criminal activities.

The military also said troops cleared and destroyed an enclave linked to a notorious terrorist leader identified as Kachalla Muhammadu Filani.

According to the statement, Filani’s group has been terrorising residents in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

The terrorist leader reportedly escaped as troops advanced towards the enclave.

During further exploitation of the area, troops recovered an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items.

The troops subsequently conducted further fighting patrols across the general area to consolidate the gains of the operation and prevent the terrorists from regrouping or regaining access to the cleared locations.

The Joint Task Force said the latest successes demonstrate the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics and deny criminal elements the use of hideouts and operational enclaves.
