Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, paid a condolence visit to former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, over the death of his mother, Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi died on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.
During the visit, Governor Otti expressed his sympathy to Amaechi and members of his family, praying for the repose of the deceased’s soul. He also signed the condolence register in honour of the late matriarch.
Otti and Amaechi are said to have maintained a longstanding friendship spanning more than three decades, dating back to their days at the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
Amaechi, a former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and former Governor of the state, also served as Minister of Transportation. He is currently the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The late Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi is scheduled to be laid to rest on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
